Crystle and Rocco ~ Family Session

I dislike the rain. Like I really dislike the rain. I hate when my feet get wet and when my hair gets damp and hangs all lifeless. I dont understand people who like the rain. When I am getting ready to go to a photo session and it starts to rain I contemplate having a 2-year-old temper tantrum and throwing my camera.

This is what happened the other weekend when I had planned a family session with Crystle and Rocco (No, I didn't throw my camera, but it did start to rain just before I was set to leave). I text Crystle asking her if she wanted to re-schedule and she text me back 'We are still good if you are!' And just like that we were pushing through.... and I am so happy we did!

I have never seen three people laugh and smile so much toegther. They just made everything so much fun that it didn't matter if my feet were wet! By no means have they changed my opinion on the rain, but they certainly did show that nothing stops the three of them from making everything they do together amazing!

Isn't Crystle a beauty? (I know you are nodding your head right now). She is also one heck of a cake decorator. She actually recently launched her own cake and cupcake design business called CMC Custom Cakes. You can check out some of her work here and pehaps even place an order for you upcoming fabulous Holiday party.

A Family Session for a 2nd Birthday Celebration ~ Perth

This past weekend I got to get out of the city for a bit and do two family sessions out in Perth. We started with Brittany (doesn't she have a fabulous name!) and her little family of three. Their daughter Izzy is an absolute sweetheart and is about to celebrate her 2nd Birthday!

Happy 2nd Birthday Izzy.... I have a feeling you are going to grow up to be just as beautiful as your mom!

Zoë and Cullen ~ Downtown Couple Session

The total knock out beauty in this post is my sister Zoë. My little sister to be precise. She is quite honestly one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She is one of those people that just lights up a room with her personality. She really has no idea how completely stunning she is and that makes her the most kind, down to earth girl. She would literally give you the shirt off her back without even thinking twice. Oh, and this total hottie is also one smart cookie.

Zoë is destined to do amazing things and I think Cullen is the guy to help her do them. He knows exactly how to make her laugh and he is one really hard working man. Not to mention he is pretty darn handsome when he trims his beard (and luckily for us he did just before our photo session!). Few guys would be worthy of my little sister, but I am glad that Cullen managed to sweep her off her feet. They are a really fabulous couple who supports each other through everything and I love them both very much.

Seriously Zoë.... stop making the rest of us look bad.

We had started the photos down by the locks, but when the sun went down we were not ready to call it a night. We grabbed some coffees and moved the fun indoors for some more pictures.

I just love photographing couples and especially couples that love each other this much.

Birthday Weekend Recap

So, today is my birthday! I think I worry more about getting taller than getting older, so I like Birthdays.

Here is a quick re-cap of my pre-Birthday weekend.

I loved the light snow that we got on Saturday, but it was icky out so I had to postpone 2 photo sessions. That was less than ideal, but they will both be re-scheduled, so more things to look forward to I guess.
In light of having all Saturday suddenly free I got some major things off my To-Do List. I am re-doing my office, and hopefully I can do a post soon with the finished product.

On Sunday we spent the day at my dad's place out on the Mississippi. We had to replace the brake pads and rotors on our car and my vehicle-savy papa bear offered to help. My Dad's garage is usually reserved for the Porsches that he rebuilds, but he made some room on his lift for our Mazda. I helped a bit at the beginning, but three people was a bit much so I eventually ended up inside (where it was warm). If you are into cars you should check out my dad's blog Porsche Rehab.

* I don't always wear my steel-toed boots, but when I do I rock them with awesome wool socks*

We had dinner and Birthday carrot cake at my dad's after we finished the car. It was a  fun night! Next weekend I get to celebrate again at my mom's place! There are few perks of separated parents... but this is totally one of them.

Oh, and I wrapped up editing an amazing couple session. Can't wait to show you the rest soon!

Holiday Couple Mini Sessions

I'm am very excited to announce some Holiday Couple Mini Sessions this December!

But first, here is the back story on this little gem of an idea....

I always make a point of doing some extra volunteer work during the Holidays. The last few years I have organized a group of friends to take part in the 'Running on Empties' fundraiser with the Caring and Sharing Exchange in Ottawa and another year I did gift wrapping at the mall with Volunteer Ottawa. (Do you see where I am going with this... yes, I am practically a Saint... I am glad we are on the same page).

Anyhoo... I was trying to decide what to do this year and then *light bulb*... why not do something that combines giving back to my community and something that I love doing anyway! Seems like such a no-braining now that I am writing it out.

So again, I am excited to announce Holiday Couple Mini Sessions to support Toy Mountain!!!

I will be doing a full day of mini sessions for couples that would like some cute holiday photos to send to Grandma, cover the fridge at home, or heck maybe even grace the cover of some snail-mail Holiday cards! (I will give you my address so you can send me one too!)

Instead of charging a normal mini session price, I am asking couples to bring a brand new toy for Toy Mountain to cover the majority of the session fee. That means for only $40 you get 10 edited digital images of your and sweetie AND you get to give a toy to a kid in Ottawa who otherwise might have nothing under the tree this year. I am even buying fun Holiday props for everyone to use!

Here are the specifics:

Date: Saturday December 7, 2013 (Saturday December 14th will be our rain date - but lets pray to Santa for sunny skies!)
Times: 25 minute sessions are available throughout the day
Location: I'm trying to decide on a place in Ottawa that has some Christmas-y tress. I will let you know soon of the exact location. Don't forget to bundle up and get cozy with mittens and scarves!

How to book: Send me an email (brit.smyth@gmail.com) with your info and what time you would like to book. I will let you know what spaces are available at that time.

*Side note: Announcing this now actually totally violates my Christmas celebration start date rule. My Birthday is Nov 12th (AKA Tuesday... so start your present shopping now!) and I usually refuse to acknowledge Christmas until my birthday is over. But, in the interest in giving everyone lots of Mini Session notice... I'm telling you now! Usually I am not a rule breaker, but I suppose this can be an exception.
